ALM Proteccion Civil OnLThe volunteer body, Protección Civil de Almuñécar, had a day’s training on HT electricity lines in connection with forest fires, etc.

PCA chief, Cecilio Fajardo, explained that the day’s training had been organized by the Red Eléctrica Española, Endesa and Infoca, who provided the instructors, and was held indoors in the meeting room of the IFAPA.

So there you go, the volunteers now know the protocol for having a section of HT, affected by fire, shut down.

They have also learned that licking pylons – a-la ‘put a battery on your tongue to see if it has a charge’ – is not recommended as a means to check that the power has been disconnected.
