SAL Moroccan Visit OnLSalobreña was host to a meeting between the Mancomunidad de la Costa Tropical and the Moroccan Chamber of Commerce.

Mr Abdelhafid Al Jarroudi is aslo the Chairman for Industry and Services ford North Eastern Morocco.

The central issue of the meeting was for the establishing of firm accords to take relations between the two entities past mere protocol formalities and bring to fruition tourism projects on both sides of the Mediterranean.

“Our objective is clear. We want to promote Spanish tourism in our land from the Costa Tropical and at the same time for Moroccan tourists to visit this beautiful coast so loved by Moroccans,” said Abdelhafid Al Jarroudi, adding that now was the moment thanks to the excellent sea-route communications between Motril Port and Nador Port.

Also present at the meeting was the Chairman of the Cámara de Comercio de Motril, Ángel Gijón, accompanied by his opposite number for Nador.

One deal to come from the event has been to set the month of May for a tourist fair in North-Eastern Moroccan which will exhibit tourist, gastronomic, trade and services offers from both sides of the Med.

Editorial comment: OK, so you struggled through that article but the fact is that the proximity of Morocco and the excellent ferry connection should have us all popping over with regularity, but we don’t. Brits here often bus down to Gibraltar for cheap goods and a day out, but Morocco is actually closer… and cheaper.
