The Junta de Andalucía approved an extension of a programme to put right storm damage to include ramblas on the Costa Tropical.

In other words, the original budget of 974,000 euros earmarked on the 16 of October for repair work to the Rambla de Carchuna will also include the ramblas in Castell de Ferro and La Caleta in Salobreña, with a total budget of 155,000 euros.

In the case of La Caleta, work will be carried out to clear it out of vegetation etc and unclog the part that is covered over (running under the road in a sort of tunnel), which is semi-choked with 15 centimetres of mud along its 350 metre length.

This sediment, should it rain with any intensity again, could cause grave problems in the lower part of La Caleta. Consequently, it is to be completely cleared out.

According to the terms of the project, work should commence within 60 days

The Mayor, Mª Eugenia Rufino, is a happy bunny and full of praise for the Junta, which just happens to be governed by her own party.
