Yet again the Salobreña Romería was a great success with 21 floats participating in the best-decorated-float competition.
Judging the floats was a complicated task, taking into account the physical result, the effort put into it, the costumes worn and even the music booming out of them.
The clear winner was the float called La Amistad, who wanted to recreate a cortijo where friends meet up . They walked away with 800 euros for their efforts.
Second prize went to Los Fiesteros, earning them 500 euros, whilst the Tropical Women’s Association came in third and scooped 300 euros.
The weather was kind to the romería, making the float procession possible, which set out from the Plaza de Juan Carlos I at eleven in the morning, led by the Virgen del Rosario drawn by two pretty impressive oxen, who will have a sure future cut out for them as bouncers on a nightclub doors.
The Town Hall, by the way, is preparing a promotional video of he event, which hopefully will become readily available.
