The Salobreña Town Hall has provided 2,000 identity bracelets for small children on its beaches so that they can be easily identified if lost.
The ID bracelets are free, waterproof and available at the Protección Civil posts on the town’s beaches.
With holiday makers mounting up on the beaches like penguin colonies, it is very easy, and traumatic, to lose sight of your toddler, but parents can rest a little easier knowing that whoever finds a child will now know who he/she is and whom to call.
So how does it work? Parents upon receiving the bracelet will write the child’s name and contact telephone number – obviously, their mobile number and not the one in their empty house back home. Just saying! Some people can be a little dense at times.
