Six Abandoned Cats Rescued

AND hungry_catsPeople dying on the roads, bombs going off in Syria and immigrants drowning in the Med… but we’re British, so here’s an article about suffering cats.

The Policia Nacional in Granada came to the rescue of six cats that had been left to their fate by an absent flat tenant. The landlady had no idea where the female tenant was.

When the police gained access, it was to find what you would expect – thin cats and lots of excrement. But perhaps worse than even the hunger was the fact that all the windows were closed – we’re talking about Granada in a summer heat wave. Cooked cats.

Somebody, probably their owner, had scattered several sacks of cat feed on the floor, mind.

The landlady had contacted the police because she hadn’t seen the woman in months, and more importantly, hadn’t received any rent payment in that time, either.

She had been around a couple of times to hammer on the door and had noticed a stink coming from inside, so she thought that the tenant could be inside, decomposing.

Oh, and even though it was her property, she didn’t have a spare key because the tenant had changed the locks – naughty!

Anyway, as there were no clothes in the flat but food had been left for the moggies, it appears that the tenant had gone away on a long holiday.
