Almuñécar emergency services held an exercise on Velilla beach to practice for rescue incidents.
Of course, the people on the beach didn’t know that it was only an exercise; all they heard was lots of sirens and saw a smiling victim being carted off in a stretcher.
The exercise was to make sure that the emergency services; ambulance, police, fire service and Protección Civil all synchronised correctly in the shortest possible time.
Editorial comment: couldn’t help thinking that the beginning of June might have been a better time; i.e. getting it right before the summer, yet then again, dealing with summer traffic and crowds is part of the training, isn’t it.
