The Almuñécar municipal police carried out the destruction of 60,000 confiscated items, ranging from brand forgeries to pirate CD’s.

Sunglasses, handbags, polo shirts, baseball caps, sports clothing, music CD’s and film DVD’s were all lumped together and had a large steam roller pass over them.

Not content, they flattened items were mixed through the shredder of a rubbish truck, for good measure.

Yet there were two kinds of goods that made there way into police hands: confiscated brand forgeries, which have to be held onto until judicial permission is given for their destruction, and lost goods. This latter category is handed in to the lost & found department, and if not claimed after a certain amount of time, are destroyed.
