The alternative route, already tarmacked, is from the Cañada in La Herradura.
“It’s a lane that is just over one kilometre long and width that varies between 3.5 and 4.0 metres wide,” explained the First Councillor of La Herradura, Juan José Ruiz Joya.
The work – laying a hardcore base and two layers of tarmac on top – went to local company, Cofer Asfaltos.
The First Councillor also said that locals in Almuñécar had long been asking for this route to be improved so that they didn’t have to go to La Herradura to gain access to Pago de Guerra.
