A group of Belgians and Almuñequeros have got together a local Lions Club with the aim of helping locals in need.
One of their first actions has been to provide an electric, mobility scooter for local resident Ana Peralta, who had suffered a stroke four years ago.
Rafael Muro and Francisco Aguilera, together with their Belgian colleagues managed to raise the money to obtain the vehicle thanks to fund raising activities.
“This objective has been possible due to several events, one of which counted on the collaboration of Restaurante Tesorillo,” explained one of the organizers.
There was a Club Los Leones in Almuñécar some time back but for whichever reason it ceased to operate, so its reemergence is a bonus for the town.
Ana expressed her gratitude by saying, “This mobility scooter will help me get my mobility back, so that I can get out and about without having to rely on anybody – something that I have not been able to do in these past four years.”
