The Almuñécar Town Hall has announced that the roadworks underway on Plaza de Madrid and on Puerta de Mar will be temporarily reopened to traffic for Semana Santa.
In other words, all road work will stop for the duration of Easter and the said area reopened to road traffic.
Friday the 27th, explained the Mayor, the road running between Plaza de Madrid and Avenida Juan Carlos; i.e., Calle Hurtado de Mendoza will receive a temporary tarmac surface.
As for the beach road, Puerta del Mar, workers are rushing to finish the manholes, lay a bed of hardcore and tarmac to have it finished ‘as soon as possible’ for Semana Santa.
As soon as Semana Sanata is over, up will come the newly laid road surfaces and the areas will be closed to traffic again…
Editorial comment: We hope for the Mayor’s sake that full traffic access is restored before Semana Santa begins otherwise, her chances of re-election will take a greater dip.
