When the Guardia Civil pulled a driver over and searched his vehicle they found 437 kilos of hashish and 33 kilos of marihuana…. nearly half a metric tonne of huff-&-puff stuff, no less.
The interception, which took place at 10.45h on Wednesday the 11th in the municipality of Guadix on the A-92N, was carried out by a patrol car backed by a police helicopter. This road is well transited by drug runners moving ‘merchandise’ from North Africa to the east coast (Levante) and beyond.
This people-carrier-type vehicle, driven by a 42-year-old Brit, was not the only car stopped, but it was the only one carrying drugs.
This police action was within the police operation Telos, which was launched at the beginning of 2013 and is especially centred upon the A-92 where it passes through the province of Granada.
Well, one Brit will be staying in Sunny Spain longer than planned… but in the shade.
