Motril’s Forest of Life

MOT Tree planting OnLMotril celebrated its annual event in its Bosque de la Vida (Forest of Life), where a tree is planted for each baby born during the previous year.

This year there were 51 families involved – each year more and more parents are drawn to the idea of their newly born babies having a tree in his or her honour.

The plantation is down near the beach area, within the Charca de Suárez waterfowl sanctuary.

With 51 new trees added, it’s equivalent to a small wood or copse being planted, almost. The trees are planted in such a way that they form a visual barrier to the industrial area behind this wildlife area.

The Charca de Suárez is the only wetlands on the Costa Tropical, although there is another, inland, in Padul.

If anybody is interested in visiting Charca de Suárez, this is a great time of year with the arrival of migratory birds between March and May.

All visits are accompanied by guides every day of the week: from 17.30h on weekdays and at 10.00h & 11.30h on weekends.
