A Madrid law court has sentenced a Guardia Civil policewoman to be interned for a maximum of ten years in a psychiatric centre, after she shot at four people, convinced that they were trying to kill her.

The policewoman, who had shot at several people believing that they were terrorists, was suffering from a temporary psychotic state that produced a delirium of persecution.

The incident, which took place in a gasoline station in Madrid in September 2010, resulted in one man suffering a gunshot wound and three others soiling themselves, no doubt as they were also targeted.

One of the four people that she believed were terrorist and trying to kill her was her boyfriend.
