The village kids, herded by their parents, took part in the La Herradura Carnival Parade, showing off their fancy-dress costumes.
The bizarre entourage made its way from Plaza de la Independencia along Calle Alhambra, Calle Eucalipto and part of Paseo Andrés Segovia with more kids joining along the way. The municipal police escorted the motley crew until they were safely packed into the Centro Cívico.
And that’s where the party began; plenty of music and even a little theatre play. There was even an bouncy castle sort of thing on the patio.
But Carnival in the village is not all done and dusted because on the 20th and 21st there will be a chirigotas competition. What’s that you ask? It’s a sort of chorus line with the members all dressed up in a fancy-dress theme, performing satirical songs on topical political issues.
Tune in Canal Sur television this week, and you will see what we mean – prepare yourself for your brains to melt in desperation, mind, after the first half and hour.
