A 79-year-old driver managed to wipe out half of a Basque coastal town – an exaggeration admittedly – when the floor mat jammed his vehicle accelerator pedal.

The man was only backing up his 4X4 at the time, yet before he had finished the manoeuvre he had hit four cars, then driving up over the bonnet of another one, before rolling his own vehicle up onto its side.

Oh, and he managed to damage the facade of a bank – good for him!

Fortunately, he only suffered cuts and bruises.
