A fire broke out in the Almuñécar bar, De Tapas Famili, which is situated on the Carrera de la Concepción, (top of town: fountain with flag).

The fire, which started in the kitchen, broke out around 18.30h this evening, Monday the 22nd.

Neighbours quickly alerted the police and fire service, who promptly arrived. The fire had produced dense and copious amounts of smoke.

Only one person was in the bar at that hour, who managed to get out without problems.

First reports speak of extensive fire damage. The cause of the fire is not yet known but it is thought that it could have been caused by the chip fryer.

Within an hour the fire was out and the street had returned to normal.
