Police officers from the Policía Nacional arrested a 36-year-old man, accused of causing damage and lesions, as well as infractions against the Highway Code.
The police had noticed a vehicle whose occupant appeared to be attempting a theft in an orchard. When he realised that the police had spotted him, he sped off.
The police operation is part of the Operación Chirimoya which is in operation to combat the plague of thefts targeting fruit crops in the Motril area.
The police pursued him along country lanes, along the N-340 and through the town streets. Needless to say his driving was reckless in his attempts to throw them off.
When he finally realised that he was cornered, he rammed into two of the police cars, causing injuries to four policemen, before attempting to escape on foot but to no avail .
