Search for Handball Mascot

club deportivo de balon mano, almuñécarWell, despite the rather shady associations between handball and the Royal Family in Spain, it appears as though the sport is alive and well in Almuñécar!

To commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the Handball Club which encourages this exciting sport locally, young people between the ages of five and 18 are being asked to submit ideas for a new club mascot.

Open until the 31st October, Almuñécar’s youth are able to hand in their entries to their own sports teachers, or deposit them at the Municipal Sports office at the sports stadium. Don’t forget to include their name, date of birth, school and the class group to which they belong on the back of the entry.

The jury set to decide the best entry consists of the Board of Directors of the Handball Club and these individuals will take into account creativity, references to our local area and naturally, the relevance to the sport itself within the design.

The winner will receive a sports kit and assorted sporting goodies, so get those hands moving (not just for the sport, but for the image as well) and help the Club find a new mascot!

By the way, to continue the celebration of the Club’s twentieth anniversary and commemorate the Feast of Saint Michael, there are various handball tournaments scheduled from the 26th to 29th September. Children can enroll at their own school from Thursday 26th and the idea is to make up teams of 5-8 players. Every player’s a winner, so give it a go!
