The Almuñécar Board of Culture and Education has announced the opening for photo submissions for the III Certamen Fotográfico. Photo: last year’s winners.

The full title is Almuñécar como Espacio de Lectura, and as its title suggests, it is about photographs depicting reading; i.e., related with a library.

The competition is divided into three categories: Kiddies (six to twelve-year olds) Juniors (13 to 18) and Adults (over 18).

Each competitor can submit up to three photographs in B&W or colour. Of course, the submitted works cannot have received a prize in any other competition and must be original work.

The competition is open for photographic submissions until the 18th of November at 20.00h. They can be sent by email or personally handed in at the municipal library.

Digital photographs must by JPG format with a maximum file size of 10MB and should be sent to almunecarcomoespaciodelectura@almunecar.es and the words, Almuñécar como espacio de lectura in the subject line.

Also included in the email should be the competitor’s full name, age DNI or NIE and full postal address, including postcode. The email must state how many photos have been attached and what their titles are, where taken and the year they were taken.

For those that want to hand them over personally at the municipal library, work should be submitted in a CD or similar digital storage format and must contain the same information as detailed above.

As for prize money, the Kiddies category has a top prize of 35 euros in cheque form that can be exchanged for books. The Juniors’ top prize will be for 55 euros; again in cheque form for purchasing books.

The adult top prize will be an electronic book and diploma and the runner up a 70-euro cheque for book purchase.

The winners will be announced on the municipal library’s facebook page and 15 finalists will have their work included in a photographic exposition in the Casa de la Cultura in April 2015.
