The Salobreña Town Hall has reached an agreement with the Asociación de Amigos del Caballo de la Villa over the participation of horse riders in the coming Romeria fiestas.

The Romería in honour of La Virgen del Rosario, which will be held on the 5th of October, will be a colourful event with plenty of decorated floats and horse carts… and of course, mounted riders.

“The Caballistas (horse riders) are one of the main attractions of the fiestas and it is important that we maintain this tradition,” explained the Mayor, Gonzalo Fernández Pulido, adding that they would have special areas on the beach allocated so that they can gallop about without the risk of trampling fiesta goers. There has been controversy in previous years concerning this.

The horseman procession will start off from the Town Hall Square and make its way down to the designated beach area.
