While down on the coast there is little sign of an approaching Autumn, other than the cooling weather, up at Los Prados, (The Meadows) Autumn colours abound.
Just around the corner from the Mesón there is a grove of broad-leaf oaks; the largest grove in southern Spain, completely ignored by just about every tourist that hurtles along the road.
It is for that reason, and others, that José at the Meson Los Prados is going to organize excursions around the local area, which includes his farm, to see the beauty of an Autumn reminiscent of northern climes.
On his farm he rears boars, deer and horses, so there are plenty of animals to see if you have kids with you. Especially spectacular is the beginning of the rutting season for the deer, with plenty of antler-armed battles going on.
His idea is to take visitors in his vehicle to visit the sights and end up at the Mesón for lunch for an all-inclusive price. He still has to beat out the details etc, but it is worth consulting his advert in the Gazette and giving him a call if you are interested in the idea of such a day out.
Remember, at the moment the Mesón Los Prados is open from Thursday to Sunday until further notice. You can’t miss the Mesón because it’s at the top of the Cabra road (the one that goes through Otívar), where you finally reach the plains – if in any doubt it is at kilometre point 27.
