Puppet Show Festival in La Herradura

LHR Puppet Festival OnLFrom the 30th of July until the 3rd of August, La Herradura will be the venue for the XVI Puppet Festival.

Yet it is not only about puppet shows, but also expositions and workshops, explained the First Councillor for La Herradura, Juan José Ruiz Joya.

The whole event starts off with an exposition of puppets crafted by master puppet maker, José Alberto Maldonado Ortega, from the Kaos Theatre Company – that’s Wednesday the 30th from 19.00h at the Civic Centre.

Running from the 31st of July to the 3rd of August there will be a puppet workshop, put on by the puppet show company, La Petite, which is aimed at adults as much as children.

This will culminate in an exhibition on the 3rd at 22.00h in the Plaza de la Independencia, where work from the workshops will be on display.

As far as the puppet shows themselves go, all of them will be staged in the Plaza de la Independencia, every evening from 22.00h an mornings too at 11.00h. The first show will be on Thursday the 31st, entitled, Heroes and Princesses: Royal Secrets and Simple Conquests.

On Friday the 1st there will be a matinee performance at 11.00h, El Elefantitio, which received the Best Puppet Show Award at FETEN 2006 and Premio Imagina 2007. This play will be staged by the puppet show company La Canica.

On Saturday the 2nd the Siesta Teatro will stage Oink, Oink, Oink and in the evening there will be a performance entitled: The Country Where The Suns Comes Rises, performed by El Retablo.

The closing day, the 3rd will have a fun-packed afternoon, including a parade by the students from the puppet workshops from 19.00h, as well as the evening show, The Dance of The Daring.
