Almuñécar Aquarium Opens Next Week

ALM aquarium 01 OnLIf things go according to plan, the Acuario will reopen its doors on Friday the 11th of July – my birthday!

Workers are busy at the moment getting the aircon up and running as well as laying carpets, but rumour has it that the fish are already ‘fishing out’ their dinner jackets and evening gowns for the event – as long as the shark hasn’t eaten them and their party kit, that is…

It was the Councillor for the Environment, Luis Aragón, who made the announcement, who emphasized the economic squeeze needed to bring the reopening about; we’re talking about finding a pretty 400,000 euros for the task. Just the aircon installations cost 180,000 euros.

Health and Safety made them change the stairs, as well as electrical installations.

Anyway, let’s see what opens first this summer: Plaza Madrid or the Acuario

Oh, and on the downside, the Municipal Market has just lost the little parking it had left, as the Aquarium will now be claiming back its exclusive parking area *Sob!*
