Workers from the Almuñécar cleaning and maintenance company have been busy eliminating the shelf on Velilla beach that was caused by recent spring gales.
The press release from the Town Hall was a bit dramatic, claiming that the drop “was a danger to beach goers” but, hey, whatever – the shelf, which in places, was about three metres from the water, needed to be sorted out now that beach-going weather is upon us.
Councillor, Luis Aragon, whose many areas of responsibility include the beaches, said that they would also be sorting out Peña Parda in La Herradura, which has similar defects.
