1st Festival de Habaneras, Salobreña

SAL Habaneras JL22 400x250Salobreña will be the venue for the Costa Tropical’s very first Habaneras Festival, beginning on the 30th of May and ending on the 1st of June. The festival will be staged in the open air venue of Antifeatro Nilo Cruz.

First of all, what are Habaneras? The habanera, also known as contradanza criolla or danza criolla, is the name used outside of Cuba and developed from the French contradanza, Habaneras is the first dance music from Cuba to be exported all over the world.

Eight groups from along the Costa Tropical and the city of Granada will participate with the international exception of a mariachi formation from Mexico, Los Mayorales.

Friday 30th: Melaza Agrupación-vocal, Arrayanes and Son de Caña.
Saturday 31st: Almenara, Tuna de Domingo Pérez and (mariachis) Los Mayorales.
Sunday 1st: Orquestra de Cuerda y Coro Montevive y Cantares.

Admission prices are very low: three euros per concert or seven euros for the whole festival. You can obtain the tickets beforehand via: www.atrapalo.com.
