The Nerja Councillor for Public Health, Nuchi Moreno, announced at the end of last month that work on the planned heliport had begun.

It was at the end of January that the land, lying next to the Medical Centre; i.e., next to the Burriana roundabout on the N-340, had been allocated for the project.

“This will mean an improvement to the present medical centre installations, whilst the Junta is building the new one,” said the councillor.

EU money is financing the heliport.

Up till now the football ground has been used as an emergency landing pad for helicopters.
