A Guardia Civil policeman stationed in Motril arrested a notorious local delinquent after he tried to break into the policeman’s own house. The arrested man is thought to have been behind nine violent break ins.
The Guardia, who is a traffic policeman, was sleeping when he heard some suspicious noises coming from his patio. He crept down the stairs and glimpsed the suspect squatting on his patio after having scaled the garden wall. He was busy, trying to force the backdoor (plenty of that where he will be going…)
The policeman phoned the emergency number 112 whilst his wife turned on the bedroom light.
Thinking that he was about to be rumbled, the thief climbed back over the wall to find himself before the policeman. There was a brief pursuit which ended in the burglar being discovered hiding amongst the undergrowth in a nearby field.
The Guardia Civil policeman marched him off to the ‘competition’; i.e., the Policia Nacional where he was detained, pending appearing before a magistrate.
