A falling bedstead injured two children in Granada, after the rope broke that was being used to lower it two floors to the street below.

Some of the bystanders thought that the antics of the two men, struggling to lower the cumbersome bedstead was hilarious; others tried to warn those from walking under the dangling weight.

A Granada tramcar pulled up to a halt when warned of the swaying object hanging virtually over it, but then decided to make break for it and passed underneath unscathed.

Finally, the two men were relieved of the strain of the load when the rope broke and the heavy bedstead smashed onto the back of a passing car before bouncing off and hitting two children, who suffered light injuries.

No doubt, as the bedstead hung just below the hostel balcony where the two struggled, they must have thought that it was perhaps not a good idea and that wrestling it down the stairs would have been a safer option…
