A New Bridge for Almuñécar?

ALM New Bridge OnLThe Almuñécar branch of the IU political party are calling for a bridge over Rió Seco, more or less opposite Calle Alfredo Velasco.

The IU considers the Sandovala plantations a “nature attraction,’ and the camino real through it would provide a pleasurable walk for people.

The camino real, called the Camino de la Sandovala or Camino del Cerrillo, dates back to Roman times. It comes out near the Antigua Sexi secondary school, (Calle Los Almendros) so that walkers could return along Avendia Costa del Sol.

In Medieval times the town’s walls had a gate called La Puerta de Vélez, which connected with this ‘royal road.’

“The lane will make a fantastic lane for walkers and cyclists, taking in the necropolis, Puente de Noy,” explained Fermín Tejero.

In short, the bridge will be a pedestrian one, which can also be used for bicyclists and the lane will be spruced up, surface wise.
