Goodbye to the Sugar Cane

MOT photographic exhibitionThe Motril Councillor for Cultura, Elena Vallejo, inaugurated the Adiós a la Caña de Azúcar photography exhibition of the works of Antonio García Maldonado, who died in 2011.

The exhibition consists of 57 images belonging to the more than 200 that were used in the Isomnio magazine, published by the writers workshop, Guadalfeo in 2005.

The photographs were taken of one of the last sugar-cane harvest in Motril/Salobreña, which in itself gives them great historic value.

Quite apart from the photographs, the exhibition also has on display tool from the ‘monda’ (sugar-cane harvest), which have been temporarily ceded to the exhibition from the Ethnographic Museum, Gibraltarillo.

Visitors can view the exhibition from now up until the 22nd of February at the Casa de la Condesa de Torre Isabel from Tuesday to Friday: 10.00h to 14.00h and 17.00h to 20.00h (Saturdays, mornings only).
