Acompalia New Year Letter

The Youth Orchestra of Southern Spain – Joven Orquesta del Sur de España – has chosen Acompalia as the beneficiary of their concert, to be held at the Manuel de Falla Auditorium in Granada on 15th March.

This is a golden opportunity: the Orchestra has an international reputation and the publicity will raise Acompalia’s profile enormously, especially within the Spanish community.

In addition, we have been allocated 300+ tickets to sell on behalf of the charity. That means the chance to raise over 3,000 Euros in a single evening.

This sum will let us expand our Telephone Helpline service from two mornings to five mornings a week.

We can also start to create a Helpline for the Spanish community. That means more patients with cancer and other life-limiting conditions, and their families in Granada province, can get practical and emotional support from our trained and caring Helpline volunteers in 2014.

To achieve this goal, we need your help. We are looking for a network of Acompalia supporters who can promote and sell tickets for this event. Will you commit to selling 5-10 tickets to your family and friends?

Your efforts will go directly into developing our vital Helpline service. And we hope it won’t end there!

The Acompalia committee has just eight members, all in different roles depending upon their skills. Not everyone is an event organiser or fundraiser, but we have been sharing these tasks in order to have Acompalia up and running.

In 2014, the committee members need to concentrate on their individual roles.  We have the opportunity to attract substantial funds from businesses, trusts and EU grants as well as liaising with the authorities to realise the next stage of the project.

As things stand, all our time and energy is going into fundraising events. This is where you can make such a positive difference.

Accompalia Support Groups
.
To realise the Acompalia vision we need to form a fundraising committee and ask if you will become a part of this vital group. Last year the first Acompalia support group was formed in Castell de Ferro and we have hopes of establishing another soon in Salobreña.

An active group, supported by the local community and Mayor, is vital to the development of Acompalia. Just one individual or a group of friends could start an Acompalia group in any town or village. Lesley O’Brien, our committee member in charge of fundraising, will be happy to provide information and inspiration!

We are keen to hear from you if you would be willing to ‘donate’ some of your enthusiasm and energy to this very worthwhile cause.

Acompalia Questionnaire:
We would much appreciate your opinions and ideas for widening our appeal.  We want to get the message about Acompalia’s caring services to the widest possible audience and you are the key.

If you haven’t already done so, please take a few minutes to complete our online questionnaire, to let us know your level of your support and interest.
