If you’ve been out and about in Almuñécar during the last few days, you will have noticed little groups of municipal workmen gathered around trees on the pavements. So what are they doing we hear you asking?

Could they be turning over a new leaf? Maybe they’re thinking of branching out. Have you twigged yet? No? Well we’re going to go out on a limb here and suggest you are barking up the wrong tree. They are in fact laying paving stones at the tree bases, to replace the the previous pit, occasionally covered with a metal grating.

The gratings were continually ‘disappearing’ and the bases have been used as little more than dog toilets. So, a nice little array of brickwork at each base should alleviate the problems and leave the trees looking smart for Christmas.
