The Guardia Civil have arrested a 36-year-old man in Murtas (Alpujarras) for stealing ten sacks of almonds from a farm labourer.
The victim had been working in the almond grove when he came under attack with a shower of large stones and shouted death threats. He ran off, abandoning his ten sacks of almonds, which he claims had a combined value of 700 euros…
He reported the incident to the police, giving a description of his attackers, which lead to the arrest of one of them.
As an aside, the ten sacks of Almonds must have each been of gigantic proportions to fetch 700 euros, when the normal price for double that amount (20-odd sacks) wouldn’t fetch a third of that price – just saying…
