The monasterial order has taken the step of expelling a monk from amongst their number after he was was included in a police investigation.
The monk, 48-year-old F.G.C., belonging to the Orden Hospitalaria San Juan de Dios, was one of eight people arrested in the police operation Arkángel, which struck against an online network of paedophiles.
The police decided to launch the arrest phase after monitoring conversations involving the exchange of ‘notes’ on child abuse. The ring was allegedly contemplating kidnapping several children, already selected, to be abused, tortured (as if being abused is not a torture in itself) and killed.
The paedophile ring came to the attention of the police after a internet user contacted them, telling how he had been invited by one of their number to join the ring. This led to phone tapping, which lasted six months.
The monk concerned, prior to expulsion was an abbot in charge of five friars in Málaga.
