A Motril law court has found a Salobreña man guilty of receiving and selling on stolen goods; namely copper wiring from municipal lighting installations. The accused man, J.R.J., was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment and was ordered to pay the court costs.
The theft took place between July and December 2009 when an ‘unknown’ person or persons manage to steal the complete electricity supply line, as well as the iron covers for the lighting inspection holes, between El Camino del Gambullón and the Paseo de las Flores.
It is calculated that the cost of replacing the copper wiring etc amounted to 40,000 euros.
