Frenchman Arrested over Almuñécar Stabbing

The Almuñécar-based Guardia Civil has arrested a 25-year-old Frenchman from Granada following a stabbing incident in Almuñécar.

The man is reported to have stabbed his 37-year-old male victim seven times after a violent argument.

The Guardia Civil found the man hiding up above Playa del Muerto in Cotobro at 21.30h yesterday night (Sunday 16th). The police found a blood-covered knife with an 11-cm blade, hidden within the clothes he was wearing.

The Frenchman, although he now lives in the city of Granada, used to live in Almuñécar and had apparently decided to visit the town yesterday, to see a female friend from previous years. The woman lived with the victim of the attack. During the afternoon an argument arose between the two men in the friend’s house, culminating in the alleged attack, around 20.00h. The aggressor fled the property.

The victim was rushed to Santa Ana Hospital in Motril. Although the man suffered seven stab wounds, the doctors say that his life is not in danger.

In the meantime, the Guardia Civil began searching for the suspect, finally tracking him down above Playa del Muerto.
