Sexist Comment Councillor Resigns

“I’m not a male chauvinist; quite the opposite,” explained Xaquín Charlín González as he announced his resignation, but he might have a hard time convincing anybody.

This councillor, belonging a regional party in Galicia, had only hours earlier left a comment on his personal blog, referring to the second-in-command in the Rajoy Government, Soraya Sáenz de Santa María.

He referred to her as the Chochito de Oro, which translates to “Pussy of Gold,” as an observation concerning a budget of 40,000 euros with her Ministry set aside for gynaecological services.

Within minutes his blog had become inundated with criticisms, even from his own party. So, he removed it and put in it’s place: “Rectificar es de sabios y dimitir no es un nombre ruso. Yo dimito” (To rectify is wise and dimitir [resign] isn’t a Russian name; I resign.” He then set about apologizing to the ‘ruffled,’ starting with Sr. Saénz.

He also pointed out that it is somewhat ironic that he is asked to resign whilst many politicians who have been formally accused of criminal acts and are facing a judge for it, have not.

The aggrieved Minister, Soray Saénz, has pointed out that the said budget has been in force for the last 15 years and is part of the medical costs for everybody working at the Moncloa (the Spanish equivalent to the US White House) where 1,700 people are employed.
