T
he Guardia Civil has arrested a man in El Padul for running an indoor hashish plantation with 700 plants. They also came across a Christmas raffle in which the prize was a cannabis plant, entitled, Christmas Flowerpot.
This is the typical sort of raffle that you find in bars where there are numbers from 1 to 100 and members of the public buy one or several numbers, marking them with their names. This cannabis-plant raffle cost 1.70 euros a number.
But the ingenuity of the alleged, 34-year-old, drug dealer does stop there because he didn’t have an electricity meter on the premises but ran the extractors, heaters and infra-red lighting from a connection with the street lighting system.
So, as well as facing charges of crimes against public health, he also stands accused of fraud for using an illegal electricity connection.
