Only two days ago, the Seaside Gazette published an article entitled, “Biggest Ever Bust!” Now somebody’s gone and ruined it with an ever bigger drugs bust.
Three Spanish men have been arrested after the Spanish police discovered their 52 -tonne horde of hashish, with a treet value of 80m euros. This earns it the Biggest-Bust-in-the-whole-of-Europe title.
The raid took place in Córdoba against an industrial workshop on a trading estate. The police had acted on a statement given by a lorry driver who had been bound and gagged when he turned up on the premises to return forklift truck that he had rented. Inside were two other men in a similar situation, lying on the floor. Armed men were searching the store for the hashish.
It’s not clear how he got away, but he must have to have been able to inform the police. When they turned up it was to find the main door blocked on the inside by concrete blocks. Once they gained access they soon discovered 1,700 packages, weighing 30 kilos each, containing the drug.
The original article from which this one is taken is a little sketchy but this appears to be the gist of it.
