What’s Happening on El Currumbico?

The IU political party has denounced alleged irregular building activity above Almuñécar’s popular beach, El Currumbíco, next to Cabría, Taramay.

The problem appears to be certain “renovations” being carried out on Casa Helios, the licence for which was granted on the 27th of May 2009 to Berning Investments Inc. Shortly after, the building work was stopped, because it was infringing conditions laid down by the Department of the Environment .

Now, consternation has broken out over earth-movement work near the said house on the same building plot. Apparently concerned neighbours submitted a written complaint to the Town Hall on the 19th of February, but no response has been forthcoming. Consequently, the IU demands that the Town Council takes all the necessary steps – as requested – to clarify who owns the plot and in short, what the hell is going on.

The main concern of the IU is that the building work is encroaching on public domain and impeding its use in an area of natural beauty.

Let’s see…
