Russians Filming in Salobreña

If you had printed that kind of headline in Franco’s day… but times have moved on. A film crew from the Russian state TV channel, Rossiya, has been filming a documentary in Salobreña which will be broadcast at peak-viewing times.

The programme that it will be included in is Utro Rossii (Morning in Russia), which goes out every day across the country, so we’re talking about plenty of viewers.

The Mayor, Gonzalo Fernández Pulido, was interviewed with the castle as a backdrop. The interviewer, Vladislav Zavialov, is one of the most popular faces on Russian TV. After that the film crew took to the skies in a helicopter to get the best shots of the castle, vega and town itself.

The Mayor can thank a professor at the University of Granada from the Greek and Slav Philology Department for this ‘promotional leg up.’ The professor, Rafael Guzmán, also acted as translator during the filming.

In fact it was the university that is footing the cost of the production, as part of the XIII World Congress of Russian Language and Literature, in 2015.
