A 46-year-old old man from Loja is lucky to be alive after suffering from a stroke (CVA) as he worked alone in his olive grove.
The family had become worried after night fell and there was no sign of the man, so they contacted the Guardia Civil, explaining where he had been working. The olive grove was on a steep hillside, some distance from the town in an area known as La Ciudad de Loja.
By the time that they found him, well into the night, the man was also suffering from hypothermia. Bear in mind that the family had contacted the police at 23.00h, with nightfall having occurred around 19.15h. The doctors at the Hospital de Traumatología in Granada, upon examining him, explained that if he had not been found when he had, he would have died of exposure.
Finally, the man had obviously been on his way home because he was found only 150 metres from the cortijo where he lived with his family.
