Almuñécar’s Protección Civil have got themselves a new 4×4 ambulance, which looks suspiciously like a straight LWB Landrover Defender 110. And that is what it is, basically, because it is for accident victims and sick patients who do not require medical attention during the trip to hospital or medical centre.
Councillor Juan José Ruiz Joya handed over the vehicle keys to the Head of the Protección Civil, Cecilio Fajardo. This vehicles replaces the old one which had been in service for the last eight years. The new one has a stretcher in the back, together with oxygen equipment and an automated external defibrillator.
Councillor Ruiz Joya said that this new ‘ambulance’ will also help the P.C. out with keeping an eye on the Almuñécar and La Herradura beaches, besides being available for accidents etc. The Councillor also said that they would try to extend the P.C.’s summer coverage so that it begins with San Juan in June.
