Young Motril Musicians Play in La Herradura

La Joven Orquesta “Ciudad de Motril” was well received in the auditorium of the village’s Civic Centre – apart from the energetic applause, they also played an encore of two more pieces.

The orchestra was conducted by the Valencia-born but Motril-adopted Francisco J. Ferrer Sánchez, and the concert was divided into two parts. The first contained more classic numbers such as the Sinfonía del Nuevo Mundo, by Antonin Dvorak, In the Hall of the Mountain (Peter Gynt), Edvard  Grieg; Symphony Nº 1, JohannesBrahms;  The Toreadores (Carmen), Georges Bizet.

The second half saw the incorporation of a drummer, piano, bass and electric guitar so that they could perform a bit of symphonic rock: Viva la vida, Coldplay; Smells like Teen Spirit, Nirvana;  Thriller, Michel Jackson; We will rock you, Another One Bites the Dust and We are the champions, by Queen.
