Almuñécar Firemen were called in to remove dangerous masonry and roof tiles from an abandoned house behind the Town Hall.
High winds have been causing damage within the municipality, a tree fell in Calle Hurtado Mendoza and tiles were wiped from a roof in Calle Pósito.
The house in question has stood uninhabited for some time, but as it is a historic building, it can’t be demolished. In cases such as these, when the owner is unwilling or unable to restore the building to a habitable state, as often as not, the building becomes so damaged by the passage of time that it has to be demolished anyway.
