A 17-year-old mother fled the hospital where she had just given birth, taking her baby with her, when she learnt that she and her child would be taken into care.

The incident occurred in the early hours of one Friday at the Maternity Hospital in Málaga. The young mother took advantage of the token security within the hospital and it not being questioned for her to visit the baby, to smuggle the child out wrapped in a blanket and hidden in a cardboard box. She also had the help of her brother to ‘escape’ from hospital.

Unfortunately – or not – she was later spotted by a police patrol and returned to the hospital.
