Police Steal Food?

Thanks to mobile-phone footage there is very little point in denying what happened, which is why apologies have been given: Nacional and municipal policemen in Puerto Real (Cádiz) were caught taking confiscated food for their own consumption.

According to the Puerto Real Town Hall, the confiscated food consisted of oranges and potatoes, which was being stored in the police station courtyard pending being destroyed as they were not ‘apt for consumption.’

The footage captured the moment when the dustbin lorry arrived and bags were being carried out to it. Several policemen came running out of the building to grab some of the bags. The images were posted on Youtube.

“This happening has been the fruit of the inappropriate behaviour of individuals, who are responsible for the same,” said the Mayor.

In the video the woman who took the footage can be heard to state: “This is is incredible, they’re sharing it out. They can take it, but not those who are going hungry.”
