Somebody’s Stolen the Winches!

On Velilla beach in Almuñécar, next to the breakwater, there are manual winches for hauling small fishing boats from the water, up onto the beach… or at least, there used to be, as somebody has stolen them.

The CA party consider that this is just another example of how the town is going to the dogs under the present Mayor, Trinidad Herrera. They also cite the plight of the Aquarium, the Loro Sexi Bird Park and the municipal market as clear examples of this deterioration.

The municipal market is certainly in a worrying state because the car park beneath it has been closed down as the supporting pillars for the market have deteriorated over the last 25 years. Whilst the relevant councillor for the affair claims that the fish market itself will not be closed down, there is a rumour that this is precisely what will happen and a make-shift arrangement set up on the lorry park area, which runs below the main road up to Río Verde.

The question is, will the whole municipal market be patched up, and who is going to pay for it, or will it be demolished?

Well, at least somebody has made a little money… by stealing the winches.
