Tribute to Mike Jingles

There is something about Mike Jingles, also known as El Gitanito Guiri, that endears him to everybody that has met him, which is why this homage to Mike was given in Nerja in the Restaurante Torre San Juan, which was secretly organised over a space of months by Juanma Alaminos Jennifer McCloy and Maria Alber through the facebook account “los primitos de Mike Jingles, el gitanito guiri.

Mike had no idea what was awaiting for him, as he thought that he had been hired to play at an event – a night’s work. You can see the surprise on his face in the video when he walked through the door.

I have personally known Mike since 2003 when he played at the now-disappeared Tablao de Flamenco in Almuñécar. Each time that you come across Mike you come away feeling more positive about life. I don’t know if he knows it, but he has that effect on people; a sort of good vibes shower.

I wish I could have been there, Mike, but we’re racing to get the Gazette to the printer for Monday, but from this page:

Te mando un abrazazo como díos manda porque eres un tío grande y nadie merece ese homenage más que tú.
